“Do not Conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve whats God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will”.
This week we continue to look at Romans 12:2 and Chip Ingram asks us “Are we a faithful Lover?” This question can be hard to swallow during a time of self reflection. But it begs us to look deep into our actions in our relationship with God. Are we really being faithful in the Love we have for God? We Know that our heavenly Father has unending ,unchanging, unfaltering love for us. But in our sin we fail to match his love .Now we need to be separated in his love to show our Father that we LOVE ,TRUST and NEED him . We talk about importance of spending time alone with God. About learning the word and allowing it to change us so it renews our mind. But now we have to apply it to our life. It’s easy to confess and repent your worldly loves to God and tell him you love him. It’s another story when you leave your room and are tempted by TV, music, fashion, sex ,and anything else pop culture will throw at you .(Not to mention the good responsibilities like paying rent, having a career and doing well in school, which can also turn into idols.) It is no easy task but we need to Separate ourselves from worldly passions, and not let them pull our love away from our Savior to whom we owe so much . My Brothers and Sisters we can not live a sacrificed life to our Heavenly Father if we allow this world to mold us with it’s habits. Paul asked the same thing of the Ephesians .
“7 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed. 20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”
So, my Bothers and Sisters I urge you to open up Ephesians and continue to read as he gives guidance as to how we are to live a Separated life and what that looks like. And please check out the website below for more information, and videos from the book Living on the edge.May God Bless you all as week and give you the strength and encouragement you need to battle the temptations of the world with his spirit.
